How Ideas Are Living, Beautiful Beings Of Wonder | Jason Silva
In this video from his talk at PSFK CONFERENCE NYC, Jason Silva shares two of his ‘shots of philosophical expresso’ - an exploration of how technology can quickly manifest our ideas and desires. The filmmaker and futurist rapidly demands that we need to learn to see the word in new ways in order to experience anew the amazement that has always been there.
Quiet: The Power Of Introverts In A World That Can’t Stop Talking
In an increasingly social world, author Susan Cain argues that we undervalue the power of the introvert at our peril. How can organizations ensure that the best ideas dominate, rather than those of the most vocal and assertive people?
I had read about Dale Stephens 2 years ago, talking about his motivation to revamp the current education system. He, like Peter Thiel, is of the belief that conventional learning has failed us and we need a more resourceful, less structured and more current educational system.

Let’s face it: information mediums have become more pervasive; the time taken for mediums like radio, television, internet, youtube, smartphones has reduced learning time by 2x at each juncture. The recent cataclysmic recession is evidence that fundamental systems will constantly change and adaptation to new innovations is necessary. Our current educational systems do not fully encapsulate that. While new systems like global campuses for online universities have been discussed, Dale encourages new students to pursue fellowships rather than degrees - they are more relevant, less expensive and more interesting.

Joe Tree: Creating a Collective Human History
Human history is defined largely by the information our ancestors were able to create and store. But our record of the past is skewed by the powerful or privileged few who were capable of documenting the world around them. We are the first generation to record and share the smallest details of everday life on a massive scale, and the first with an opportunity to create a truly collective human history. But to secure our place in tomorrow’s past, we need to think much more carefully about what we’re doing today.
Who says brilliant ideas do not fall from trees? Here at WeBirch Labs, the incubator within an incubator, we are always watching out for the trends and innovations out in the market. We are on the ground, in the air, and under the sea to deliver impactful insights and innovative technologies into this planet we call home.

It is not enough however to stash away these highly valuable nuggets of inspiration. While we pride ourselves in being the futurists that other futurists look up to, we are not merely gear heads and cranky wizards living in the ivory tower. Therefore we are sharing our latest ideas with you, our adoring fanbase, so that you can reap the rewards through hard work and execution even if you are without your own ideas. We want to set these ideas out into the world so that they may soar and bring to peace and harmony for all mankind.
Consider this our gift to you, the industrious entrepreneur, to build your own empire from the fruits of our fields overabundant in inspiration and awesome sauce. These ideas are completely open source and free for you to pursue to your heart’s content. Good luck and Godspeed to you!

TED, the conference dedicated to “Ideas Worth Spreading,” took a step forward in its educational mission today by launching a TEDEd video channel on YouTube. Shorter than the 18-minute TED talks that have racked up 500 million views, these videos feature a combination of talking heads from TED stages and animation (artwork by Fast Company Most Creative Person Sunni Brown, among others) tackling topics like neuroscience and evolution for a high-school-aged audience.

LAUNCH is a global initiative to identify and support the innovative work poised to contribute to a sustainable future and accelerate solutions to meet urgent challenges facing our society.
NASA, USAID, Department of State, and NIKE joined together to form LAUNCH in an effort to identify, showcase and support innovative approaches to global challenges through a series of forums. LAUNCH searches for visionaries, whose world-class ideas, technologies or programs show great promise for making tangible impacts on society.

This fun little infographic displays the results of a poll of 2000 individuals, showcasing what their bucketlists would look like if the world ended in 2012, based on the old Mayan myth. The most interesting phenomenon for me is that people, as you would have imagined, always mention they would like spend more time with family, discover the world or simply relax.
Why can’t bucketlists be actually implemented? It seems that because we constantly move, we are unable to stand still and, when given an ultimatum, we suddenly discover life’s brakepads. I would like to imagine that the next time this poll is taken, most individuals would say that they did everything they desired, within their means of accomplishment, and all that is left is plain destiny.
